Settings reference

Every settings tab and what each option does.

Settings opens in its own window with ⌘,. This page lists every tab and the options it holds.

General#

  • Enable haptic feedback (macOS) — subtle trackpad feedback on drags and snaps.
  • Type to search — start typing in a list to search it.
  • Check for updates automatically — look for new versions in the background.
  • Menu bar icon — show it, choose its click action (Quick Add or Open Todebaran), and the count shown next to it (Today / Inbox / both / none).
  • Dock badge — what the Dock icon counts (Today / Inbox / both / none).
  • Language — System or English.
  • Date & time — date format, time format (12/24-hour) and start of week.

Appearance#

Themes and accent color. See Themes & appearance for the full guide.

  • Mode — Light, Dark, or Auto (follow macOS).
  • Light theme / Dark theme — which theme applies in each appearance.
  • Accent — the highlight color, from the theme default, a named palette, or a custom value.
  • Custom themes — create, edit, and export/import themes (Pro).
  • Highlighted item color / text color and default icon color.
  • Accent follows folder color.
  • Sections — reorder and show/hide sidebar sections.
  • Agenda & other items — reorder, show/hide, and color individual rows.

Tasks#

  • List width — from Dynamic through fixed sizes to Full Width.
  • Default description alignment — left, center or right.
  • Hide empty day headings.
  • Project progress on project page.
  • Task display — show the deadline, subtask progress on the circle, and the slip icon.
  • Task status items — which badges appear on a task (Project, Collection, Slip, Tags, Subtasks, Recurrence, Focus Mode).

Shortcuts#

Record, reset and export/import keyboard shortcuts. Conflicts are flagged.

Printer#

Thermal printing setup. See Printing.

  • Enable printing and Mark tasks as completed after printing.
  • Printers — add, order, set a primary, and configure Network / USB / Serial connections with status, test and detect.

AI Settings#

Bring-your-own-key AI. See Setting up AI.

  • Models — add models (OpenAI / Anthropic / Google / Custom) with a Model ID, API key and optional Base URL; choose a primary.
  • Image generation — enable per model and pick a primary image model.
  • Chat — enable the floating AI chat (Pro), plus MCP server config.

Integrations (macOS)#

  • Apple Calendar — show read-only system events alongside tasks, with a per-calendar checklist. See Calendar.

Sync#

Peer-to-peer sync via Shared Folder, WebDAV or S3. See Syncing across devices.

Shared Spaces#

Add, view, leave or destroy shared spaces.

Account#

Sign in, view your plan, start or manage Pro, and sign out.
