Todebaran runs on macOS 13 Ventura or later. Just download it and open the app — no account is needed to get started.

Yes. The whole app is free to use. Todebaran Pro is an optional paid upgrade that adds sync, custom themes, shared spaces and unlimited areas, projects, collections and smart lists — available as a subscription, or as a one-time lifetime license that never renews. Pro comes with a 7-day free trial, once per account (the lifetime license has no trial: it is paid once). Starting it asks for a card, nothing is charged while the trial runs, and it turns into a paid subscription afterwards unless you cancel before then — cancelling during the trial costs nothing. If your account has had a trial already, Pro is still available to subscribe to without one.

Turn on sync (part of Pro) and your tasks stay in step across your devices automatically — through a shared folder, your own WebDAV server or an S3-compatible bucket that you choose. A shared space lets you plan with family or friends in one place.

On your own device. Todebaran is local-first: your tasks, projects and notes live there, the app works fully offline, and no account is needed to use it. If you turn on sync (part of Pro), your devices exchange changes through a location you choose — a shared folder, your own WebDAV server, or an S3-compatible bucket. There is no Todebaran sync server, and the contents of your tasks and notes never reach us. AI works the same way: it runs on your own API key with the provider you picked, or on a model running locally on your own device.

Todebaran prints slips to common ESC/POS thermal receipt printers — including popular Epson TM models — over network, USB or serial. The docs have the full list of compatible printers and setup help. If you run into a printer that doesn’t work, let us know and we’ll take a look.

You can manage or cancel your Pro subscription any time from your account settings. If you cancel, you keep Pro features until the end of the current billing period. A lifetime license has nothing to cancel — it is paid once and does not renew — and your receipt is reachable from the same place.
