Countdowns

Keep an eye on the days until something that matters.

A countdown is a small marker that counts down to a date — a launch, a trip, a deadline you want to feel approaching. Countdowns sit at the top of your Today view, so the days remaining are always in sight.

Add a countdown#

Create one from the Today view. Give it a name and a date, and pick an icon and color if you like. It then appears on Today, counting down day by day.

There's an assignable Add countdown shortcut — set a key for it in Settings → Shortcuts if you add them often.

Project countdowns#

A project can carry its own countdown — a project-level date, with a Show on Today switch. Turn it on and the project's date joins your Today countdowns, so a project's finish line stays visible alongside your standalone ones. The date also shows on the project's own page.

When to use one#

  • A product launch or event you're working toward.
  • A trip or holiday you're counting down to.
  • Any deadline where seeing "12 days left" keeps you honest.

Countdowns are just a view of a date — they don't schedule tasks or send reminders. Pair one with a deadline on the task that actually needs doing.
