Customizing your views
Shape how lists, tasks and the sidebar look and feel.
Beyond themes, Todebaran gives you fine control over how your lists and sidebar look. Set it up once to fit how you like to work.
List width and layout#
In Settings → Tasks:
- List width — from Dynamic through fixed sizes to Full Width. Narrow keeps lines short and readable; wide fills a big display.
- Default description alignment — left, center or right.
- Hide empty day headings — keep Today tidy when a section has nothing in it.
- Project progress on project page — show a completion ring on projects.
What each task shows#
Also in Settings → Tasks, choose which badges appear on a task row under Task status items — Project, Collection, Slip, Tags, Subtasks, Recurrence and Focus Mode (the time-tracked badge). Turn on just the signals you care about, and hide the rest for a cleaner list.
You can also show or hide the deadline and the subtask-progress ring.
The sidebar#
In Settings → Sidebar:
- Reorder and show/hide sections.
- Give agenda rows and other items custom colors.
- Tune how highlights and icons use your accent color.
Collapse and expand the sidebar any time with ⌘⇧← and ⌘⇧→.
A calmer canvas#
- Add a background image with ⌘I.
- Enter Zen mode with ⌘; to strip the app back to just your list.
- Toggle a task's description inline with ⌘U.
If your lists feel busy, start by turning off task status items you don't use and hiding empty day headings — it makes a surprising difference.
